United Spirit seemed very nice when I visited like 15 years ago. Definitely nicer than the Paige. Of course, it's too big.

Texas reno is bland NBA wannabe.

Did they just replace their upper deck with a ribbon board?

Thought I actually read somewhere it can raise and lower/be removed for different events to expand seating if needed. So yeah, kind of.

Can't find where I saw that and might have made that up in my head, though.

An option to hide empty seats seems like a good idea.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Posted this over in the football stade thread, but here is a quote I found. This 10k, more college-type atmosphere will be much better for UT.

Quote
In hopes of providing a more intimate fan experience, the new arena will be designed to seat 10,000 during basketball games and can expand to 15,000 seats for events such as concerts and shows. Students will now have seating around the floor instead of only behind the baskets.

I'm a big time window in arena guy too, and the Galen is one of the best. Wish there was a way to add some windows with a view of the setting or at least some silos or something from Bramlage, similar to the Galen's view of the LA skyline.

windows shmindows.  arenas need to find a way to make the environment more foreboding.  no natural light should ever reach the court.  in fact, take it easy on the artificial light too. keep it light enough to still see, but not darker than we're used to.

and also, sound system wise, find a way to pump in a very low minor chord.  so low that it's almost inaudible.  so that one player might say to another "hey do you hear that?" and the other answers "hear what?"

the organ in the air force academy chapel has a pipe tuned so low that it's felt, not heard

Replacing the band with a pipe organ would be pretty badass.

This thread got me thinking about other CBB arenas I've been in, which got me thinking about Mizzou. There was no where close to the amount of crap given that Mizzou deserved to be given. They were forced to name their arena after a donor's, living, 22 year old daughter, who didn't even go to school there. Then they had to take her name off when it was discovered that she paid people to do her school work for her.
Thje daughter went to UACA and got caught having paying someone else to do her coursework, if I recall. Which led to the calling the new arean the Plagiarism.

One of the most LOL things ever. That the parents wanted to name it that is one of the most weird/pathetic things I've ever heard of.

Every game the aisles bother me at the OOD. The aisle going right down center court is high on my pet peeve meter.

This x1000.
