I liked zero dark 30 as well.  I think it probably could have been much longer but from what I've read and understand it was fairly true to form.  I have read criticism of the interrogations depicted but didn't bother me.

A Late Quartet

...i have a pretty strong boner for Philip Seymour Hoffman so i knew i would probably like it. add in Christopher Walken and Catherine Keener and you have some great performances. kind of depressing movie, helps if you have an appreciation for orchestral music.

Gonna have some time to watch movies the next couple nights. What do you recommend movie experts and Dlew?

The last 3 movies I've watched were Perks of Being a Wallflower, Django Unchained, and Argo. I liked all of them very much. Kind of wish Argo was a little bit more like Black Hawk Down.

I love Black Hawk Down, so I will most likely like Zero Dark Thirty, right? Is that out yet?

Zero Dark Thirty is good at what it does, but there really isn't a whole lot of action through most of the movie. I thought The Hurt Locker was much better, and I would recommend that one if you haven't seen it yet.

I watched This is 40 yesterday morning.  I liked it.  I'm a sucker for Judd Apatow movies.  Not really ashamed either.  I know the movies are formulaic and a lot of the joke/references are a little tired, but i still laugh and i still think he does a good job of pulling at the heart strings just enough.

i was pretty entertained, but didn't think it was anything all that special.  then Ken Taylor and Jimmy Carter said that 90% of the American heroics in that movie were Canadian heroics in real life, and i was glad i didn't actually give any money to the "come watch how awesome america is all by itself" scheme/lies.

Canadian guy I know is staring down the barrel at 40, and found the movie to be depressing in many ways.  You guys don't know him.

I thought the movie was ok but like 10000x more depressing than funny (closer to 20 than 40, unlike your Canadian friend).  like "not at all a comedy" levels

I think you might be disappointed in Zero Dark Thirty if you're expecting it to be like Black Hawk Down.

There are about 10 minutes of Zero Dark Thirty that are similar to Black Hawk Down, maybe more like 5.

yeah i can understand the this is 40 is depressing sentiment, but i don't know, i thought it had a decent message in the end and there were definitely some laughs.

longer than it should have been though.

Eyes Wide Shut

Kubrick has a way of making me happy i watched a movie, but feel incredibly uncomfortable throughout the entire ordeal.

New Red Dawn. At least 300 times more sucky than real red dawn was good. But still it was watevs. I really hate movies that try to pawn off hideous 30 year olds as high schoolers. Chris Hemsworth was the only normal looking human.

Watched Godfather I and II for the first time all the way through this weekend.

Pretty terrific.  I see what the hype is all about.

did anyone post about Lars and the Real Girl?  If someone described the story to me I wouldn't have expected myself to sit through it all, but I did!  I just love that Ryan Gosling guy.

It's such a weird movie. I'm glad I had no idea what was going to happen going into it. For the first 20 minutes you can't help but think about how ridiculous the whole thing is, but after that they make it all so believable. Emily Mortimer's speech to Gosling towards the in brings me to tears everytime.
