A Christmas Story Christmas is worth a watch. Really enjoyable continuation and nostalgia.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Gladiator 2 is closer to a straight to DVD release than film of the year.

I liked Heretic.  The female leads were terrific as was Hugh Grant!

I will have to check this out. I don't know that I've ever sat down and watched A Christmas Story from start to finish. I just kind of enjoy taking in the atmosphere of all the different scenes here and there during the 24 hr marathon. Same for National Lampoons Xmas.

Home Alone and the George C Scott A Christmas Carol (which I just learned is on YTTV) are the two Christmas movies that I have to watch in their entirety every year.

I watched Spy Game (2001) because it was on Netflix and because I hadn't ever actually watched it.
Feels like a movie that would've been in the wal-mart $5 dvd bin in the late 2000s

i'm not sure why but for some reason the 1968 filme The Lion In Winter is having a moment right now. I haven't seen it and i don't know the impetus of this sudden renaissance but i'm curious!

speaking of tony scott, i just watched true romance for the first time and it's incredibly bad, esp given the talent involved.

Hot take here but I think Tony Scott movies were good in spite of Tony Scott and not because of Tony Scott.

Now I'm going to have to rewatch True Romance because I haven't seen it in 10 years but I liked it.  Once confirmed, I plan to come back to this thread and fight mocat about it.

same.  true romance used to be known as a good movie.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

True Romance. What a cast! The movie was okay and there were some LOL bad scenes. There were also some good scenes but not enough to make the movie good. I read James Franco modeled Brad Pitt's character for Pine Apple express so I enjoyed the scenes with Brad Pitt. Needed more Brad Pitt scenes, imo.

Here's my old take. Neither good nor bad.

I went to the Stray Cat Theater in KC and saw the 1978 Czech comedy Adela Has Not Had Supper Yet.  Neat theater and the movie was absolutely wild, funny and beautifully done.

In a way that ChiComCat especially appreciates, or in more of a "appeals to the general public" way?

I went to see Gladiator II last weekend. Since I wasn’t anticipating an Oscar-winning film, I appreciated it for what it was—a violent, fictionalized account of ancient Rome. The gladiator riding a rhino as if it were a horse and the sharks in the colosseum were fantastic fantasies that I thoroughly enjoyed. The CGI was great, the acting was fine.

I kept asking myself why Denzel was in this.

Why Denzel was in it or the necessity of his character in the film?

I was trying to figure out the Macrinus is Trump connection that the boys on TexAgs were complaining about.

Why Denzel would choose to be in it. Just figured he wasn't choosing roles based on $$ at this point, but maybe not. I too was trying to figure out the Trump connection but gave up.
