I saw "Nashville" in a theater this week and I really liked it. Can't quite put my finger on why but I can't stop thinking about it. Also I was blown away that I hadn't heard any of the songs before*". The actors all wrote the songs they performed and most are really good!

Watched the movie "FM" last night, (it showed up on my YouTube recommendations - probably because of the recent passing of Martin Mull who is a central character in the movie) and despite being a pretty mediocre film, the soundtrack is just absolute fire and actually makes the movie worth watching.  Early on in the film they had to mute one sequence because it features an Eagles song and they are notorious for filing copyright claims on YouTube videos featuring even one second of their music.  But other than that it's complete.

There are a couple of segments featuring real concert footage from Jimmy Buffet and Linda Ronstadt.

The last time I watched FM was like 20 years ago on VH1 Classic or something they played Life in the Fast Lane during that sequence (where the DJamer guy is hauling ass to get to the radio station) so if it's not there anymore we have Don Henley to thank for that.  Big Lebowski was correct for his dislike of The Eagles.

I watched a lot of classic 80's movies last year that I had never seen or that I hadn't seen in 20 years and I loved it. The last few months I started doing the same with 90's movies and the results have been similarly great, if not better.

Reality Bites - Amazing movie and cast (Ben Stiller, Ethan Hawke and Winona Ryder). Ethan Hawke was great. I cannot believe I never heard about this movie until 4-6 weeks ago.
The Mask - This movie hits so much harder on supplements as an adult than watching it as a kid.
The Professional - I was skeptical that I would like this one but it was awesome. Very glad I finally sat down to watch it. Gary Oldman has a much broader skillset than I had previously given him credit for.

Yep, it's exactly that one.

Reality Bites might be THE 90s/Gen X movie? My only real issue is that they live in Houston and no one says "y'all". Great cameos from David Spade and Andy Dick! A montage with one of the best U2 songs I haven't heard in years! Winona Ryder is so so good. Definitely worth a watch!

The idea of trying to decide between a floundering “authentic” slacker & a sellout is the most GenX thing. The biggest GenX trope with GenX madlibs like someone working at The Gap almost ruins the movie for me. It’s like if someone prompted AI “make the most stereotypical GenX movie” but it’s really good.

Rewatched Titanic. Still a masterpiece. I would love to talk in depth with someone who's seen it without knowing My Heart Will Go On. Because they play some nonlyrical rendition of that song during basically the entire damn film and it kind of takes you out of it.

Hopefully Twisters is at imax
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I saw Longlegs last night. I'm afraid of saying anything that would hint at anything, but it's the best horror movie in years. There's only one or two things holding it back from being the first horror movie up for best picture since Silence of the Lambs.

I've been looking forward to this one for awhile. Excited to see it soon, hopefully.
