When in doubt, always go with Nicolas Cage.

Both have very good RT critic and audience scores, so I'll probs end up watching both this week. The theatre is in my parking lot. Everything Everywhere is rated slightly higher, so I was leaning that way. In terms of my mood, I'm feeling a bit broody and warmongery.

Unbearable is very fun tho - you can't go wrong.  More of a "Friday afternoon, let's kickstart the weekend and order a beer or two" to me

I'm definitely going to watch it. Probably Thursday while some water line work is happening at my place.

Need some quick advice. Should I see Everything Everywhere All at Once, or the Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent tonight?

Dude I work with said it's the best movie he has seen in a long time.  Dude lives in Austin and is a programmer.  Seems like a decent sample case for you.  I'd do it.

Sorry to Bother You — Dystopian dark comedy starring LaKeith Stanfield, Tessa Thompson, Danny Glover, David Cross, Terry Crews, Steve Yeun and more.

Cassius (Stanfield), broke, living in his uncle’s (Crews) garage and out of luck, applies for a job at an Oakland area call center. Eager to impress his girlfriend, and after some sage advice from a veteran co-coworker (Glover), he discovers the key to telemarketing sales.

Cassius has finally found his calling, and even looks poised to become a mythical “power caller” who operated on the mysterious second floor of the dilapidated building. But will he focus on sales spell trouble for his relationships with his friends and girlfriend (Thompson)?

There’s also more than meets the eye as far as the power calling is concerned — and not in a good way.

I enjoyed it. Pretty funny. Very weird.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I did enjoy. It was ... certainly a different kind of movie, and I can respect that. Really, there's nothing I can compare it to. The title of the movie is quite appropriate.

Good to hear.  I was worried it would be really dark but hoped there might be some weirdness in there to break it up.

The Witch, unintentionally an exploration of Calvinist theology.
Additionally, a showcase of the real existence of evil.
And when I say real, I don't mean it in a cowardly, sometimes people just do bad things, way.

hats off to PW who was all over the witch before anybody else on this blog. would love to get PW's thoughts on the lighthouse and the northman

2016 might be the worst movie year of all time. There has been almost nothing worth watching since the Oscar bait left theaters

Knight of Cups
The Witch
The Lobster
Neon Demon
Green Room
Midnight Special
Hunt for the Wilderpeople
The Nice Guys

Others?

You like some pretty bad movies pw

also hunt for the wilderpeople is so dang good. what a run taika went on

Hell or High Water ... on netflix. another one of those went in with zero knowledge of what it was (didn't even know Jeff Bridges was in it). this is one of the best movies i've ever seen. highly recommend.
