I thought The Power of the Dog was decent.  It was a little long but I liked the ending.

You tweeted and posted about "Power of the Dog" and I was like, "Damn, this has got to be good with @'taterblast gift of approval" and it was TERRIBLE! Just slow and terrible. How dare you! :shakesfist:

i loved it! it will win awards. it has the appearance of a slow movie but if you turn off the lights and focus on it i think it's a movie that should have you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

Movies that suck when you watch them but people claim are actually good when you really think about it always win awards.

If it's possible for satire too over the top, Don't Look Up was too over the top.

Disagree, but I'll grant you that tastes are subjective.

i enjoyed it. i'd have to say i enjoyed Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012) a little more. (totally unrelated other than the general premise of an impending world-ending asteroid)

I actually found the plot disturbingly believable.

Yes. Idiocracy is an example of satire that is over the top. Don't Look Up was barely over the top, if at all. I mean, we had a president that said we should stop testing for Covid so that it would go away. That is quite similar to suggesting that you don't look up at an asteroid that is careening towards Earth in order to avoid armageddon.

I think Don't Look Up was intended to be more over the top than it ended up being because it was written before COVID. Maybe some things were added in filming to reflect just how stupid people have been during the pandemic, though.

I Care a Lot .... incredible premise and set up. sort of disappointed in how it played out/ended. but overall enjoyed quite a bit.

The Report ... fired up Adam Driver! liked it.

Idiocracy is over the top but like, that was kinda the point of it, haven't seen Don't Look Up but from what I know of it was it's more made to be "realistic".

That being said, Idiocracy has had many, many things that seemed ridic when it came out that now like, a little too close to being real

Don't look up is great satire for really stupid people.  Like they just beat you over the face with it over and over again, which to me sort of defeats the purpose but whatever.

the weird dog movie was weird, I loved the ending but to get there was ROUGH
