Watched The Artist for the first time. I enjoyed it. Easy to tell why the Academy loved it and that was a weak year for Best Pictures. I would even watch it again.

Watched Legend two nights ago.  Tom Hardy is a talented actor.  Movie was pretty good.  I really liked the Ronnie character.

Watched Killing Them Softly lastnight.  Not very good.  Poor copy of Pulp Fiction.

Stylistically.  Noir-esque with a bunch of bit character segments.

Like -- ok we'd like to have Gandolfini on the screen for like 7 minutes.  Also we'd like to have Ray Liota on screen for 7 minutes.

1917 - OK, Dunkirk was about twice as good imo. The scene with the baby was just so cringey that I couldn't watch.

I also thought Dunkirk was better. I saw 1917 in a theater and saw Dunkirk on a plane and still thought it was better.

Dunkirk was one of the best theater experiences I think. Really they're completely different movies but I get why they're compared.

is either of them really any good?  maybe they’re both supremely average.  what say the goEMAW elite non brown movie watchers?

I just wanted to pop in to say I haven't seen either, and don't think it's likely I ever will.

I was drinking heavily and not paying attention but Ad Astra seemed like they tried to fit a lot of different story lines into 120 minutes and it wasn't that great in the end.

I don't think they did that but it sucked regardless. I could barely detect 1 storyline.
