Back around 1950 Juneteenth was important to my family. Why? Because we grew watermelons on our family farm and we always timed the planting to have them ready for picking by Juneteenth. It was a big celebration day among the black population in East Texas and we wanted to have our watermelons ready to sell. I venture to say very few people around the country knew about it, but if you grew watermelons for a living in East Texas you were well aware of it.

that makes perfect sense and everything, I just assume that they all abide by the unwritten rules of being an incel which is "we all know that everybody is just making up every story they tell but we all agree to not call them on it, lest the entire house of cards come crashing down"

Demographics are changing with the illegals flooding the country and their offspring.

If I moved to a country for the social benefits and a job, I wouldn't give two cents about the history of that country. It's meaningless to me. I also wouldn't try to instill any patriotism or allegiance to that country in my kids either. It's a place where I go to work and take advantage of the system. That's it.

That's where we are here.

Yeah but there's an important difference between these immigrants and those immigrants....

In a weirdly ironic twist, I was scrolling thru the socials before opening this thread this morning where one of my friends whose parents were born Mexico posted pictures of his family celebrating July 4. His daughter had a cake topped with pieces of fruit forming an American flag and they will grilling some delicious-looking Mexican dish. The idea that immigrants despise American culture or that immigrants should renounce all aspects of the native culture or that immigrants in the past would instantaneously adopt "American culture and values" the instant they set foot on US soil is dumb and untrue.

Interestingly, there is a family legend that my 2x great grandpa who came to the US from Europe forbade the use of the native tongue in his home in order to "be more American." No idea if the story is actually true but it has always been repeated as a point of pride amongst my relatives.

Im thinking fast food folks and delivery folks got too big for their britches during covid. They were open while sit down restaurants closed up.
LOL, people who otherwise dont do fast food ( ie, dont or dont know how to cook) spoiled them.
I quit Torchys, because order takers can see your every move, and i dont want some purple haired every inch pierced face being mad and spitting or dicking my food.
