MIR can handle himself.  I think he is just saying at this stage in his life he won't spend his entertainment dollar going to a nascar track.  Probably for a number of reasons, the crowd ranking pretty low on list.

Obviously, I don’t even want to surround myself with that mess, and my aunt is a PT special relations person at the speedway there. I honestly can’t stand NASCAR, but I’m happy MIR enjoys it, because that’s what life is all about. I just think 8man’s implications are a bit bizarre. The most white trash thing I go to is Chiefs games and I’m done sitting in the 300’s for it.

I’m probably expressing this clumsily, and I think I’m commenting a bit on similar statements you made in another thread, but I think it is sad that you aren’t able to feel comfortable going to an event for a sport you’ve followed for decades because of a bunch of redneck racist assholes, MAGA or otherwise.  Just a depressing statement on our society, and one that I don’t have to regularly confront.

He's right, but it isn't a maga thing, NASCAR tracks have been a hostile place for black people for decades. If anything it's likely better now than it has been, at least all the confederate flag crap is just limited to the parking lot. Some of those tracks have 100,000 people, I'd rather not spend money and time around thousands of people who would rather me be dead than in their presence.

While football games, especially NFL games are also filled with some of society's worst, the difference between that and a race track is that there aren't people at a football game who aren't expecting to not see or have to cheer for black people.

Happy to hear and sorry there’s trash out there as well. I just can’t wrap my head around watching cars go 500 laps around in person overall. That’s just me tho & I love entertainment and happy you enjoy watching it. To me tho, it just sounds like a very specific event overall to attend, when we have better sports to watch on Sunday’s.

I'm definitely a passive watcher until the last part of the race. Always doing or watching something else for most of the race.

Sorry, I just automatically hear the word "vaccine" in my head when I hear the phrase "protect people against polio." It is possible that he means "acknowledge natural immunity" or "chase migrants with horses" or "investigate the origins of polio" instead.
