Well, first off, anytime you invoke something like Sputnik 1 you need to add that you're completely clueless and think what I'm talking about is some kind of right wing conspiracy. That's very on brand for most on here when they don't know what has transpired over the years or is transpiring now.
For years (and now) ProgFascists wanted the Fairness Doctrine/Equal Time rules invoked on Limbaugh and others.
In the case of Fox News, we've got entities like WashLite going to the courts saying that cable/streaming distribution only entities do not have 1st amendment coverage and that cable/streaming entities do not have co-equal footing with print media and traditional over-the-air broadcast television. Of course WashLite (for example) is really only concerned about Fox News. But that has equal implications for others, like the lunatic tinfoil hat nutjob Rachel Maddow.
ProgFascists got all wrapped up in the spokes about Tucker Carlson when the courts ruled in his favor in the McDougal lawsuit, with the courts saying Carlson engaged in "rhetorical and opinion commentary".
So, for this board we have idiots like Chum1 who think these lawsuits are purely a 1 way street and it's just MAGA who doesn't get it.
