I think it's most likely the speechwriter knows the soldiers storming the beach at Normandy weren't communists but also understands that communists are probably less popular than Nazis with Republicans. So they used the communists in a way that if you squint really hard and really like Kimberly Guilfoyle you could convince yourself she was explicitly talking about the subset of veterans that served at both Normandy and Korea instead of writing it off as a silly/sloppy line and going about your day. LMAO

After watching that clip it seems obvious to me that she wasn't actually referring to anything factual at all, so I guess what's the point of fact-checking it is my takeaway.

Like she might as well have said "100% of the military of all history has supported Donald Trump" and sure we could talk about how Space Force wasn't around then, but that's really not the point. It's just a stupid piece of meaningless rhetoric. At most I'd say she intentionally avoided mentioning Nazis for fear of alienating the current Republican base.
