I observ observe I know never to engage them on politics.  When it comes to that, they're complete whackjobs.  I don't blame them, their entire livelihood and retirement comes from years of working in the bureaucracy and besides, we know the two things driving job "growth" in the U.S. is the Federal employment and an industry highly subsidized by government.
