i don't know why. if i saw that tshirt without the nazi imagery i would honestly not think a second thing of it. this is one of those "there are a billion valid criticisms of trump -- why are we wasting attention on stuff like this" things for me.

If you want to take issue with Trump's campaign slogan as being some racist dogwhistle, by all means, go nuts. My point is that an eagle holding an american flag is not uncommon imagery in american politics. hell if you want to raise hell about the eagle too, go nuts with that. I don't really care -- just seems like a stretch to me.

I'm with DQ on this. Sure, it looks similar. But the Nazis mostly stole their iconography from the Romans (as did we). It's also reminiscent of the Thunderbird logo, as well as native american iconography. They probably should have made the eagle head face the other direction if they were prescient, but w/e.

it looks similar to lots of things but so far it looks most similar to the nazi symbol and it's combined with that particular slogan. and I might be convinced it's a coincidence if I saw that slogan and/or logo anywhere else in trump's apparel store.

I'd agree that I don't think it's any worse than any of his other thinly veiled appeals to white supremacists, though. such as the "good people on both sides" or the very recent video of him sharing vids of his supporters yelling "white power" already mentioned. Really all of them on their own might be acceptable, but it's an awful lot of coincidences.

That shirt is marketed to white nationalists. There are probably a few naive supporters who will buy the shirt not realizing they are advertising to the world that they are nazis when wearing it, but most of the people who buy that shirt are going to be actual nazis.
