michigancat are you irl arguing that raiders of the lost ark is more scary/traumatizing than temple of doom? 

No not at all. I just recently watched raiders with my kids and was blown away by how scary, violent, and unfunny it was. I definitely remember getting traumatized by the heart scene in Temple of Doom but don't remember the "worse" scene

Conan the Barbarian is the better movie but maybe a bit too sexy for a preteen so watch Conan the Destroyer instead.
