Like, hating Leavitt because he might have Sean Snyder on staff is pretty dumb. Pretty much every coach has some dead weight from their good ole boy network, Sean's no worse than them.

This situation has made me join the Leavitt train.

All aboard!!!

Cale Gundy?! Why not just hire Sean at that point?

I wouldn't be excited over Leavitt, but at least I wouldn't be terrified of the program being further destroyed.
I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

im bored with 7-5 and 5-7 seasons
id rather be shitty for a while if it meant we could win the league every now and then
im not really interested in being mediocre
i say take some risk and aim high. if we fail, just try again
you will be just as pissed off with 6-6 as you are at 3-9

From Matt Hall at KSO:

Quote
If you're terrified of Klieman, you've been heard. That doesn't mean he won't end up with the job, but ADGT knows how you feel about him.

He's doing a great job covering this.  I give him my money,  you probably should too. :dunno:

I posted this elsewhere, but I think Moorehead at Mississippi St is a good example for Kleinman.  Moorehead realized that the FCS to P5 jump was not going to happen.  So, he left a successful head coaching career to be an OC at Penn State.  If Taylor thinks that Kleinman is great, and Kleinman wants to be a P5 head coach, then let’s make Kleinman our Co-DC (he makes $300,000 now) and see what happens... it could work out well for both parties.

I want a somewhat young coach that isn't afraid to bend the rules a lot and recruits his ass off.  Of course no Baylor like crap though.

For the non-twitter users, gene liked a post where Snyder’s windbreaker account said coach should have FBS winning success and not be the NDSU guy.
Klieman has a 1.000000000000 fbs winning percentage.

Yeah, the biggest (not only) problem with that is we’re staging for the next conference realignment chaos with this hire. We need to be a solid program, good facilities, and winning WITHOUT the Snyder name or we can end up toast in C-USA or MWC. Then being good won’t matter.

Don't presume to know how I'd feel, crap pot.

Now that's out of the way, I think there's a chance Leavitt could do decent, better than a .500 type average.

you could probably talk me into leavitt if u told me he was going to bring in one of the best recruiters of DLs in the country with him. and maybe the same with a top secondary coach/recruiter.
we need to replace Mo and Fabris with 2 of the best recruiters out there. With huge upgrades there, Leavitt might have a chance

How many people are going to raise hell if we pick NDSHC as our coach??? I will.. Total disappointment

Don’t think we do. There’s risks, but the only candidates that unite the fans in fear and dislike are FCS names.

Leavitt record in conference games: 25-26 (from the mighty Conference USA and Big East). After he had 5 years to build up the program, they were in CUSA for two years and then the Big East for 5. He had losing conference records in three of those seven years and never won more than four conference games in the Big East. He won more than eight games in the regular season one time after they joined a conference (the year they rose into the top 5 and absolutely cratered down the stretch).

The very definition of meh.

I am no huge Leavitt lover, but crap man, he built it out of literally nothing.  That's very, very hard to do.

I don’t have a strong preference between leavitt and the Dakota guy. Both are equally deep into the burn it down end of the scale.

Definitely fair to credit Leavitt for building USF from nothing. But, he also had the benefit of an NFL stadium and could have built his entire roster recruiting within 100 miles of Tampa - two enormous luxuries.

I think the red flags or concerns with Leavitt are the fact that he’s 62 and hasn’t been a head coach in 10 years. We’d have to hope that he built a great staff. But he does have the potential to do that with such a wide coaching background.
