K-State ain’t hiring any sitting P5 head coaches.   So if you want a sitting head coach you gotta look at the Liftrells of the world.

Leg Day has multiple years of P5 offensive coordinator experience.

Venzy doesn’t want to be a head coach.  He’s a Bud Foster lifetime DC type.  Give up this dream before it eats your soul.

I'd heard lots about Matt Campbell and Toledo prior to Iowa State.  :frown:

There isn’t a scorching-hot coaching prospect in the mid-major conferences.
The last several years have had at least one each:

At the end of 2015: Memphis’ Justin Fuente, who landed at Virginia Tech
At the end of 2016: Houston’s Tom Herman, who went to Texas, and WMU’s P.J. Fleck, who went to Minnesota. Herman also fit the bill in 2015, a year before he left UH.
At the end of 2017: UCF’s Scott Frost, who returned to his alma mater Nebraska. This year also featured an out-of-coaching Chip Kelly getting back into the business at UCLA.

Venzy for LRWTP HC will forever burn deep inside me until the day he takes a job better than this one, and so far, he has not done that.

That, has a lot more to do with most MAC games being on ESPN, and not him. If you look at their resumes LittreLL, Satterfield, Wells, and Brown all have better relevant experience at this point. Campbell literally had no P5 experience before going to ISU and it was the first time he coached outside of the state of Ohio.

Yeah Matt Campbell wasn't at the level of any of those guys in terms of success or name recognition. I do see your point though.

Not defending this nonsense, but I’m pretty sure Snyder was the same risk back in the day as a coordinator. Who really knows wtf they’re getting?
When we hired Bill he was the established OC/QB coach at a P5 school for ten years, during which:
1) he helped turnaround a team that hadn't had a winning season in almost two decades
2) that team won multiple conference championships
3) had a QB Heisman finalist.

That was when we were the worst program in the nation.  Funny how a coach like that seems like some unobtainable dream for lil' ole KSU now after supposedly turning the program around.

Who’s treating it like an unobtainable dream? That’s still who we have, and most people want him gone.

Let's be clear, the Seth LittreLL's of the world are up and coming coaches.  TTU and K-State would be considered stepping stone positions.  K-State needs someone that wants this to be their final destination.

That is Jim Leavitt but as of yesterday, he interviewed with TTU and is talking to Colorado.  The only reason he is not offered TTU is because Venables retracted his original statement that currently he is not looking to leave Clemson as a promise to this son.  Something K-State fans realize by now is that whomever we are considering, TTU is going to flirt with them as well.

Exactly.....nobody knows for sure.
Which is why it is so puzzling that people are clamoring for Snyder to leave so that we can roll the dice on some unproven commodity.  Particularly when we are going to have to roll the dice in the very near future anyway.

The stepping stone argument has been discussed and universally determined to be dumb. No one cares if we keep having coaches snapped up every 6 years if we get a conference championship or make a playoff run in that timespan. No one is going to steal away a 7-8 win KSU coach, which has been our ceiling for most of Snyder 2.0.

It'll be that dude from North Dakota.

Nope. Donors nixed that.
If you're wrong, I will have to ban you.

Come at me bro. When I’m right you can give me a one year premium membership for free.
Oh for sure.  I'll make you a mod if we don't hire some bargain basement coach.
There a LOT on the line here @Blackcats...
