42, Maybe you can start a non-elite-travelers thread with ideas about how best to shove your clothes into a huge pile in your bag and how you like to bring a full size shampoo bottle everywhere you go    

I USE THE TRAVEL BOTTLE AND FOLD EVERYTHING METICULOUSLY

I went to Inida for 21 days one time and fit the following into one bag:

150 CD (don't ask)
2 shovels (don't tell)
14 shirt
7 pants
3 pairs of shoes
2 ties
toiletries for 3 weeks
about 5 books

I am the king of packing.

No offense to people who suck at flying (and thus, at life) but anyone who checks a bag for anything less than a 2 week trip shouldn't be discussing flying, airports or travel in general. 

Sorry to ice your post here bro, but I often end up going north to Wisconsin for a week or a 10-day stint in the dead of winter because of family obligations. Because of my elite tallness, the trip requires not only some t-shirts and boxers but some bulky-ass sweatshirts, sweaters, and jeans (and we're talking like 2-3 of each at the very least because I'm not wearing the same crap every day). Oh, and don't forget my winter coat that is the size of Rhode Island but warm as hell. I'm not taking that damn thing on the plane with me, and the coat alone won't fit into a carry-on.

Hate to say it steve, but you = LTTWSLTACIQ (low traveling to what seems like the Arctic Circle IQ). I totally agree with your point if you're going to some crappy-ass state like Texas or something

Need better family planning - don't get involved with people that live more north than you (potential coastal exception).  Told a girl from Alaska to eff off for this very reason once (not a true statement, was for very different reasons).  Nonetheless, dodged a bullet there.

All my family is originally from Omaha. Seems like a cool place. Except that I had to fly to Minneapolis to fly back to Texas from Omaha on like Northwest or whatever. Yet another reason why Southwest is elite, very few dumbass connections for dumbasses.

There are tons of direct flights to houston and dfw (prolly other loser places in TX too) every day, dumbass

Always check bags. My wife demands on bringing her own hair dryer (hotel ones are never good enough I guess), and 5 different pairs of shoes. 

Most people who don't check bags aren't super elite travelers. They are just dumbasses who have no consideration for those around them.

I usually don't check, but the main problem with the pay for bag check is all of the cheap dumbasses that bring enough stuff on the plane to fill 9 suitcases then get pissed and hold everyone else up when the overhead bins are full.  Hate those people.  HATE them.

Flew Delta this weekend.  Planes were full of folks who crammed their oversize carry-ons into the overhead bins to avoid the checked-bag fees.  Flight attendants were exasperated. 

Also received an unscheduled one-night stay in Memphis due to mechanical issues.  Delta =  .

Has nothing to do with being cheap.  I get free checked bags with Delta and will (hopefully) never check a bag.
