maybe worth noting that the swing right in south texas probably strengthens cuellar's hand since it seems like there would have been a decent chance dems would have lost that seat if cisneros had defeated cuellar in the primary.

I think you are confused about which border counties went for trump, because Cuellar’s district race was not close and his district is pretty dang blue.  I attached a map of the border counties in his district based on presidential race results.

Also, I was saying I’m not surprised there is a move to try to punish AOC and im confused why anyone else is surprised.

i know where cuellar's district is.

cuellar won his district 58.3-39.0; biden won cuellar's 51.5-47.3.  cuellar overperformed biden by quite a bit more than any other texas congressperson in a majority mexican-american district did.  if you look how other texas congressional races went, a non-incumbent, progressive candidate underperforming biden by four would not have been exceptional.

tx 24 (valenzuela): 47.5-48.8, biden 51.9-46.5; underperformed biden by 6.7
tx 25 (oliver): 42.1-55.9, biden 44.4-53.9; underperformed biden by 4.3
tx 31 (imam): 44.3-53.5, biden 47.5-50.4; underperformed biden by 6.3

thats fine as far as it goes, I don't think Cisneros runs 20 points worse than Cuellar but who knows.  Cuellar hopefully gets primaried and we can find out.
