i'll defend dax on this one. although i do think dax is racist, and have said so before, i don't think either calling obama a spook or describing media questioning of obama as tossing him cotton balls was intentionally or inadvertently racist.
to people of a daxian age, spooks was a common term for the cia and probably the most consistent rhetorical theme dax invokes is linking democratic politicians to american imperialism and military/national security adventurism. calling obama a spook fits comfortably within that theme.
talking about the media throwing obama cotton balls just substitutes one type of ball for another in a common figure of speech. cotton as a consumer end product is associated with softness, above all else. there is no common association between cotton products and black people.
if he had said cotton bolls, it would have had a different connotation, but he didn't.
