yeah I don't think what she would gain is worth what a potential loss and fight with the party when you have two safe dem senate seats to begin with. she can build credibility with the party, gain notoriety, and influence national politics where she is.

They would be expensive, but acting like we would have to raise taxes to pay for all of them while Trump is running a deficit of more than $1 trillion is disingenuous. We would raise taxes and continue running a large deficit, but I don't think effective tax rates would approach 30% on a 100k salary, let alone 60-70%.

Free college
Free healthcare
Free childcare
Forgive all student debt
Every type of paid leave imaginable
Maternity leave of at least one yr
Paid vacation
Paid holidays
Federal job guarantee which I assume will include a pension
Reparations
Open borders
No homeless people (so free housing for anyone that wants it)
Give money to other countries to help them convert to renewables
Reduce working hours
And I’m sure a lot more ideas are forthcoming

it's easy to overestimate how well-known someone like aoc is.  she is obviously a big deal on twitter and on fox news and she gets oversized-coverage from the political media in general.  but she's still just a freshman rep with a thinner political resume than pete buttigieg.  i think she's a very talented politician, but she's a long ways from being able to mount a credible campaign for the presidency and i don't see an easy route for her to close that gap.

yeah she's probably 8 years away. according to that graph she's right there with multiple credible Presidential candidates and as you mentioned she's a freshman rep. I mean Obama went from state senator to president in 4 years.

But obama was a charismatic minority candidate who was smooth and had a certain style that made the old white men get rage boners every time he did something cool....so maybe you are on to something

Realistically, a President AOC might get one or two of those accomplished. A lot of them are unfunded mandates on businesses that don't directly cost the government anything.

Stuff like that (especially the maternity leave part) is stuff that really really pisses me off. In general, when like 80-90%+ of the world does certain things (like healthcare) or paid maternity leave and we don't, it's like, come on, we need to be better.
