Do the "order sample" button on here and have them send you a piece of it so you can see and feel what I'm doing a shitty job of describing as far as how slick and glossy it is.  https://www.kahrsflooring.com/en-US/wood/black-silver

I think it's free.  If not, PM me your address again and I'll have one sent to you.

I want to spend $10.67/sq.ft on this because that’s what my old stuff was valued at and I don’t get any money for getting anything less.

New leader: https://hallmarkfloors.com/product/onyx-oak-hardwood/  It's brand new so the place has to order me a sample as the manufacturer didn't even have one to spare when she showed it to them yesterday.

That glossy Kahrs was gonna get mumped up too easily, and I don't think any practicalities of the LVF are going to justify me not getting the money for the value difference.

That Hallmark Onyx floor is the winner.

Now, I'd intended to get black cabinets, but won't with a black floor.  I'm going to match them up to the creamy white that's on all of the trim, doors, etc. both in my place and in the building.

What should I be looking for in terms of material and manufacturers?

I'll be checking out this specific stuff later today, but it's a good example of general options.  I've gathered I may be wanting some mdf and some maple - maple for the bigger structural parts and mdf for the smaller parts and/or things next to water/appliances.  Am I wrong?  Are there brands or specifications I should be looking for within each?

https://www.lectuscabinets.com/products/painted-mdf/

Style-wise, I'm leaning towards "slab" to keep it simple, or maybe the most basic "flat."  My regular room and closet doors have a "raised" design, but I think I'd be flying to close to the sun getting something similar but not quite matching.

Counters - 3cm quartz, right?  I'm thinking something gray/concrete-looking, or black.  Tips?

are you looking at a honed or polished finish?

i've been planning on granite since forever, but lately have been thinking more about quartz.  in either material, i'm leaning towards 2 cm, seems cleaner and more modernish (i don't normally like modern things, though).

I picked this, and specified I wanted 3cm.  Coordinating black backsplash.

For cabinets, I picked this in the vero series and alabaster color that will match all the off-white already in my place: https://www.bellmontcabinets.com/galleries/door-gallery/door-details.html&door_details=Seaside&door_series=VERO%20Series

Now we'll see how much pushback I get.

This crap's finally happening, like all the stuff is bought and at warehouses in town and I've got installation booked.

Floor: https://shawfloors.com/flooring/vinyl/details/titan-hd-plus-2002v/guardian-oak

Counter: https://www.cosentino.com/usa/colors/dekton/soke/

Cabinets: Basic ones from Lowe's, white chocolate color to match the doors and trim I'm stuck with in the building.

Got all new appliances to put in while this is all happening.

Aside from getting all my crap and myself into my neighbor's unit he's renting out, I need to buy a new kitchen faucet.  I think the only parameter is "single hole" as far as the main thing that the water comes up from, but the guy said I can find ones that will also have soap dispensers and other crap and that the counter people will cut the holes in to match.

So let's talk kitchen faucets!  And by that I mean post the best one I should get.

That black floor is going to be aids with you having a dog. Get a good Roomba. I say get a good one because I thought spending $400 on one would have gotten me a good one and I was very wrong.

The roomba would terrorize the dog. I’ve got a broom and a polka-dot vacuum and will get a cleaning service.

Close to done with all this.

Gooch and I busted one of the feet of my pub table back when I first moved here, and I've exhausted everything I can do to replace it and get it back perfect, so I'm going to replace it and get one that has a bigger table surface.  This thing is effectively my "dining room" table.

Closest to what I've had:

Others they have now:

Nothing's changed as far as the stools I have and that they still sell, which has me leaning toward going with the top one and that matches the stools better.  Thoughts?

i'm trying to talk myself either into or out of finally going ahead and replacing the cabinets and counter.  anyone know if the people that do these are still completely swamped and charging prices accordingly or if things have calmed down a bit?

I didn't find it delayed much or marked up.  I actually had to push out getting the cabinets done because getting all the stuff in was in such flux, I didn't want to schedule installation before actually having the things, and then I was jammed up getting moved out in time.

that's encouraging.

It was kind of a clusterfuck how I even had to find out.  I'd had a contractor for over a year lined up to do everything except the counters, and by the time I finished whipping ass to get my money and got a date for the cabinets to come in, he'd double-booked himself and gotten COVID.  I had to hustle to line up different people to do each thing, but it probably worked out better and getting specialists for each.

For those dekton counters I got, it's not even an option to line someone up.  The company sends a guy out to laser measure everything and their own people come in with the counters all precise and affix them to the new cabinetry.

that's kind of a negative.  i'd much rather just deal with one person doing both the cabinets and counter (and plumbing and whatnot).

Oh yeah, having to coordinate all those people and schedules sucked.  But in hindsight, I don't think my original one person would've done each piece as well as it turned out.
