Equating anti-racist outrage to peaceful protest outrage is a pretty bad take, but it makes sense that people who can't see gray area would agree with it.

I don't think they're the same.   

My interpretation of the article was that if we're going down this path of "rough ridin' canceled'ing" everything or everyone we deem offensive, we're going to be left with some pretty bland crap - even by network sitcom standards.  I thought that was an interesting point.

He also pointed out that saying outrageous racist crap is pretty much in character for 911 truth'r/boston bombing false flag'r/hitler cosplay'r Roseanne Barr.  The newest crazy offensive thing she said doesn't really say anything new about her character.

I'm not saying the guy deserves a pulitzer.  I'm just saying that the article raised some interesting points.

yeah I guess he wasn't equating them because he really only saw negatives in Roseanne getting cancelled and did not mention any downside to football players not being allowed to protest. So he might think Roseanne's cancellation is worse.

And good grief I guarantee that there are dozens if not hundreds of sitcom ideas that would be at least as good as Roseanne and not associated with a racist. there are plenty of funny non-racists out there.

man, this article was mainly about how we should be careful about this practice of raising hell on social media about entertainers who outrage us. his invocation of the NFL thing was an example of how, notwithstanding their tendency to cry for free speech, conservatives are just as guilty as their "someone who makes me uncomfortable lib" adversaries.  i agree with you that the examples he's painting with are too broad - he glosses over that some outrage may have more merit than other outrage.   

for what it's worth, his article condemning the NFL's decision was last week:
