we didn't get it in 1994, so why would we now (or in the near future)? because we have an older stadium now?

we have renovated Arrowhead since then, and Kansas City is by far one of the top five soccer cities in America now. We were one of the host cities in the 2022 bid process.

i did not know that. that's great.

these were the nine metros in 94:

boston
nyc
dc
detroit
chicago
orlando
dallas/la
san francisco (stanford)

without looking at anything from the 2022 bid process, who would get a repeat? i say

nyc
chicago
la
dc

who would get a slight relocation? i say

orlando --> miami
dallas --> houston or austin

who would get axed?

boston
detroit
SF (stanford)

so i would say there are 3 spots open.

seattle would get one

the other two, i would say along with KC you could consider

columbus @ tOSU
denver @ mile high
atlanta?  :Yuck:
indianapolis? gross

i would hope whoever decides this stuff factors in how gross soccer looks in a dome

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_2022_FIFA_World_Cup_bid#Details_of_the_bid
Quote
In April 2009, the U.S. identified 70 stadiums in 50 communities as possible venues for the tournament, with 58 confirming their interest.[12] The list of stadia was trimmed two months later to 38 existing venues, one scheduled for completion in 2010, and one proposed venue.[13] On August 20, 2009 the list was further trimmed down to 32 stadiums in 27 cities.[14] On January 12, 2010 the USA Bid Committee narrowed the 27 cities down to 18 as the official host cities for the United States' Bid for the 2018 or 2022 World Cup.[15]

Those 18 cities are: Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, Tampa and Washington, D.C.

I'm not going to watch it. Every time I think about the Qatar World Cup, it makes me sick. I'm just going to think about Brazil and Russia. In the back of my mind, I'll hope they move it from Qatar, but I doubt that happens.

Ninjas won 7-2. dobber jr had 1. Best  2 plays he had were two crosses from deep in the corner that 11 yr olds just shouldn't be able to make. His goal was on a tackle and advanced 20 yards to goalie and went off the opposite pole and banged it in.

You guys realize this is the only place a brag about him, right?

8-4. dobber jr with another goal. Best play by DJamer was a drive to corner pull back between two kids and a perfectly timed cross for the assist. Great effort all game. DJamer's buddy started the game 4-6 on corner kicks. Two went direct and another off a header. It was crazy. Win in the morning and Ninjas play for gold.

Update: found out last night that one of the corners we all thought was headed, was not. That means that dobber jr'z buddy had 3 directs on corner kicks.

#1cat related: I bought dobber jr some Mike and Ike's yesterday before the game. Will talk with coach about getting a Mike and Ike machine on the side lines for each game?

Love dobber (where did slobber come from?) but this is a really bad time to have dobber jr updates ITT. My heart races a bit every time I see this thread bumped now, Mike & Ike updates aren't what I'm looking for a couple of weeks before the world cup starts. Sorry slobber.

Nothing like it. There aren't many things in life I look forward to more than the World Cup. What a thread this will be.
