I don't know what it feels like to lose a wildcard game so it's hard to say

I mean, I would. I think the disconnect here might be between people who treat the NCAA tournament as an invitational and people that treat it as the playoffs of college basketball. I can totally see both ways since the criteria isn’t super objective for a lot of teams that get in, but to me the tournament is just the playoffs so I definitely consider first four as playoff wins. Doesn’t mean I’m happy with just getting there though.

when the debate turns to whether or not a "play-in" is considered a tournament win, you've already lost

If he would have lost that game, people would have busted his ass and railed on the he doesn't win tournament games train even more. It's a valid point to analyze for non-agendites.

this just isn't true.  to me this has nothing to do with oscar.  I felt this way before this dork was even our coach.  I feel the same about the stupid "second round" thing. "Southern Utah States first ever second round win!"   ummmmmm, no.

I hate to agree with meowmeow here but the fact that people that support oscar are arguing this point speaks to the level we have descended to as a program.

It is true. Nobody supports oscar, many are just tired of the #BID'rs rinse and repeat shtick. It's old and played out and takes zero thought process to come up with reasonable explanations of what's going on from game to game. Some ppl just want to chat about the cats without having to thumb through a billion "eff oscar, BID, Classic oscar, etc.." bull crap.

is the #BID rinse and repeat shtick more or less tired than the irrelevant brand of basketball we've experienced the last 5 years?

IDK, but many BBS'rs have tapped out when it comes to rational thinking about cat sports lately. Maybe everyone is in some weird rough ridin' trance ever since they lost their scorn lover from 6 years ago.

Not really the question. I’m asking if you would consider that game a postseason win.

No, not really.

There isn't a huge difference between oscar and Frank.  You can make a valid argument for either of them when it comes to success/results. Although, the tournament records at KSU do stand out.

For me it's mostly about having a fun basketball program.  Frank and his teams were fun to watch.  Because of Frank's personality and the grittiness of his players, it was still entertaining even when they struggled.  oscar is the exact opposite of that idea.  Because of oscar's personality and penchant for making excuses, he needs to win at a higher rate to make his program fun and entertaining.

I love basketball and being a bubble team over and over again pisses me off. If oscar was consistently getting us a middle of the road seed I would be fine with it.  If he wouldn’t give these dumb bullshit excuses all the time and winning I would tolerate him.   Sadly that’s not the case tho.

Hey guys, go much up your own thread about whether your personal opinions on whether the first four games "count" or not (lol gmafb of course they count.  Ask Illinois State or Syracuse if they think they count or not)

This thread is about oscar moving up the list of all time great K-State coaches.

If you really wanna see what purgatory was/is, you should of tried watching K-state basketball pre Huggins, now that was really a kick in the nuts. Frank had some questionable bubble teams as well that had to rally late in the season to make the tourney. Acting like you're watching a team fight to make the tournament isn't something new with just oscar.

Cy Young has the most wins, complete games, games started etc in baseball history. Doesn’t make him the best, far from it.

He's about to make the tourney 4 out of 6 years with K-state. He was a 4 seed, a 9 seed, play in last year, and nobody knows where he'll end up this year.

Frank was a 11 a seed with beaz, a 2 seed, a 5 seed, and then a 8 seed.

I did not have fun during the WVU game. At all. Or Tulsa. KU games were frustrating.

But overall I have had a lot of fun watching this team and the players this year. I really like Barry, Cartier, Dean, Sneed, and Kam. Mak sometimes. Love, Stockard, Wainright a little. I think McGuirl might have some potential.

And I'm looking forward to Hoops and Hops Saturday.

Making the tourney vs tourney success are not the same thing.
