Our new DC is going to the Chicago Bears? That doesn't sound very cool.

Warm up the Bo Pelini to KSU rumors mother fuckers!

It is interesting that at one point I was concerned if Kly had the contacts to put together a P5 staff.  Now, only a few weeks later, we are talking about our DC leaving for the NFL and if he does leave we still have two former DCs on the staff.  It would suck to drop a staff member so quickly and before the recruiting period is done, but I imagine that the NFL pays way better than we do?

I always wanted the Wyoming guy more than the NFL guy, maybe we'll hire him now.

Message boarder elsewhere indicates the Chicago position coach job will be $200K ish less than the DC job at KSU.

I think we want Scottie Hazelton but might not agree on how much he should be paid.

https://theathletic.com/784316/2019/01/25/mandel-grading-the-fbs-head-coaching-hires-for-2018-19/

Quote from: Stewart Mandel
Kansas State (B+): North Dakota State coach Chris Klieman.
It puzzled me why K-State fans initially freaked out over the school hiring an FCS coach. First of all, Klieman wasn’t just any FCS coach, he went 69-6 and won four national championships in five years. The 51-year-old Iowa native also just feels like a good fit in Manhattan, where finding diamond-in-the-rough recruits and developing them is essential. I would have had slightly more confidence in Satterfield or Brown, but there’s a lot to like about Klieman, who has the unenviable task of succeeding K-State icon LHC Bill Snyder.

[...]

Kansas (D): Dos Equis spokesman Les Miles.
I once gave Kansas an A for hiring Turner Gill (whoops) and an F for hiring Charlie Weis (accurate). Miles isn’t divisive and arrogant like Weis — if anything, he’s extremely upbeat and charismatic — but I fear his tenure could be nearly as disastrous. The 65-year-old Michigan Man failed to catch on to the evolution of college offenses at LSU and has given no indication he’s learned from his mistakes. He’s assembled a mostly underwhelming staff. Simply put, a national championship ring from 12 years ago isn’t going to turn around the Big 12’s worst program by itself.

Texas is hiring former Kansas State OC Andre Coleman to an unspecified role.

Coleman confirmed that he was joining Texas in a tweet on Monday morning. It's likely that he's going to serve as an analyst, as the on-field staff appears to be full at the moment. He spent one year with the Wildcats as OC, and previously was the WR coach and passing-game coordinator. He should help with the gameplanning, and also is viewed as a strong recruiter.

It's not like these guys left an existing staff that had been together for a few years for greener pastures.  Coleman, Seiler, and Dickey add 0 value to their new team against a Klieman-coached Cats other than existing roster talent (which isn't much of a value).
