That ASU job is brokedick. They are making the head coach keep both coordinators.

I do like herm. I feel like he'd be a good recruiter. He does all the UA All American HS Camps. Seems like a fun guy to play for. Hopefully he gets coordinators to help what he lacks.

Yeah people here weren’t thrilled with Graham getting fired already so this should really piss some people off. Weird ass situation they’ve created. I think Herms an awful choice and will burnout in 2-3 years of sucking

I don't know, I don't think it's a good hire.  The last time he coached was in 2008 in Kansas City.  And he doesn't have any college experience since what, 1987-1989?  *whistles*  ASU is taking a big risk.  I'll give him that he's a good bullshitter and the players love playing for him, but..... I don't know if that'll work in the college levels.  I think a fair comparison to him might be Lovie Smith, who's not doing so well in Illinois.....

Even if the coordinators are kept, I'm sure that he will find a way to screw that up.  This is a guy who is a Schottenheimer Disciple as his game is more suited for the SEC/BIG10 style, not the aerial circus/arena football style in the PAC12.

Big risk.

One thing I’m almost certain of: Herm would make a better college football coach than Gottleib would make a college basketball coach.

Herm feels like a celebrity hire.

"Hey, look at us! We got the NFL guy from that TV show!"

It's hard to think of two different personalities than Herm and Lovie.  But I guess they are some in one superficial way.

i don't think it's that weird.. obviously they're different personalities, but i'm always weary of hiring NFL guys who don't know the college game.

also they're both black so they're alike in that way too.

fwiw, my Illini friends are still optimistic about Lovie.

The overwhelming feeling among athletic administrators, between chuckles, is that this hire will turn into a Lovie Smith Sequel – an out-of-touch NFL coach returning to college for one last pay bump before retirement.

This stuff at Tennessee has robbed exposure to an amazing story about the Mississippi State search.

https://twitter.com/DanWolken/status/935726996289617921

Mississippi State fan’s intel from strip club accurately predicts Joe Moorhead hiring
Hours before Mississippi State hired Joe Moorhead, a Bulldogs fan posted a message board rumor that belongs in the Hall of Fame of message board rumors.

A user, imissplatinumplus, claimed to know Moorhead was the choice by way of an Uber drive and a stripper at the local “Cheetah Lounge” in Atlanta.

Note the time stamp of 4:47 p.m. — that’s hours before news broke of Mississippi State’s hire.

Whether you believe the sourcing was legit or just a good guess with quality storytelling, this kind of fan engagement is what makes college football great.
