why wouldn't you just buy something from somewhere else, already assembled?

I want that thing, or something similar, because it's relatively small and is a one-off thing that will go fine as the only piece of furniture I'd have for the "living room" and has storage space and can fold out to a bed.  It would replace a 13-year-old futon.

I'm sure you mean partially assembled, as a fully assembled thing like that couldn't be moved easily into my place.  The inspiration was a neighbor trying to sell his used one, but it still would've needed to be at least partially disassembled, and his had stains which led me to find that a new one wasn't all that much more than what he wanted.

I found a more couch-y thing at a local furniture store that has that same shape, but no storage and no bed transformer action.  It would've been $880 moved in and assembled.  Plus tip.

Having to drive to furniture stores to find something as good as that ikea thing would be just as frustrating as assembling the ikea thing while having never left my place.

I'll help you put it together when I head up for my next Sergio 'cut.

Nope!  Well, nope as to it coming today.  You people can still come up and PAK, but you'd be stuck with the futon instead of the new couch.  It might come tomorrow, and I might have to get home depot parking lot contract labor to help now if necessary.

I like it.  Will be a much better situation for future pak'rs.  I definitely need to go back to the store (eff) to get that mattress topper thing.

The boxes ended up in my place from Saturday morning until yesterday afternoon and weren't too cumbersome.  Assembly went well except my buddy missed a step while I was finishing up a prior step, and we wasted 20 minutes seeing if we could do that step out-of-order rather than undoing a few and getting it right.  We had to undo a few and get it right.

Yes, on that side of the room, there's actually more space than there was before.  The extended part (chaise?) is on the side closer to the front door, so it kind of creates a split of the "rooms."
