So we have had these enormous pumps for LTC the past 10 days or so but what is causing them? I realized I hadn't explained that much. So one thing is the chain mining switching that has been going on with BCH which has driven people to hedge with LTC. That partly drove the initial pump.
The real factors are that LN implementations are improving, which I have posted links/tweets about. Basically we are getting close to have LN implemented for off chain transactions which helps with LTC scalability. This makes the network faster and offloads transactions off chain. This allows the main blockchain to do the heavy lifting. LN is a layer 2/3 protocol built on top of the main LTC blockchain. It also enables the ability to perform cross chain atomic swaps. Which allow for instance conversion between blockchains. So I can convert 10 LTC to the equivalent BTC instantly. This happens off chain and is confirmed as a part of the blockchain.
Another development that will pump the price even more is MAST. This Reddit thread does a good job explaining it.
