I dont want anyone to die, but I do hope this allows Houston an opportunity to use that fed and state relief money to make their shitty city slightly less shitty.

My buds in Cypress and Tromball are fortunate to live in newer neighborhoods with good drainage but the ponds are getting full.

pffft, that's not even Sunday afternoon traffic for Houston.    I remember hitting town in the 90s at 6AM, went 10 miles in 90 minutes.

96% of people have power in Houston. That seems crazy high.

Is the actual hurricane similar to Katrina?

Considering that in a Metro area of 6.3 million people, approximately 250-ish people die each day in Houston, this seems like it would amount to a rounding error.  Crazy low indeed.

Katrina was a little windier, but Harvey has roughly 3x as much rain fall.

Been chatting with coworkers in the area. Pretty rough times ahead. Majority have some sort of damage. Many are completely flooded. One coworker is a volunteer fire captain. He's been going non-stop with water rescues. Dude's going to sleep for a week.

Hey amigos, some friends and I are partnering with Charlie Robison Coastal Relief to get some much needed supplies to Rockport, TX.  Houston and the area have received much or most of the news but Rockport is near ground zero where Harvey initially made landfall.  The houses aren't flooded, they are mostly gone in this and the surrounding comminities.

We are gathering up as much as we can in the DFW metro on Saturday and then heading to San Antonio on Sunday to add to our supplies if we do not fill our trucks to capacity and then heading to Rockport on Monday morning.

If you feel so compelled, you can amazon prime supplies to me and they will personally get delivered by me to the Texas Gulf Coast.  PM me and I will give you my address.

If not with me, I do encourage you to help out some way through some one.

Needed items:

Water, toiletries, diapers, non-perishable food bank items, batteries, mens socks, work gloves, generators, chainsaws.
