Not to change gears, but to change gears I think this athletic surge is more due to being a final destination than fly-over country.KR just happened to come along during the same year.
It really says a lot about how shitty K-State's athletic program is when your best year ever is 6-6 and no bowl in football, an Elite Eight loss to a mid major and a sweep from KU in basketball, and no Big 12 titles. But hey, at least that baseball team is on their way to their 2nd ever NCAA tournament appearance.

I long for the day when KU can get swept by K-State and lose in the Elite Eight to a mid major.
