Besides looking a bit like a bald leprechaun, has Kellis been good luck for KSU?

I submit:

Since Kellis was hired in late summer of 2009, and begun his own brand of lazy, horrid writing with backhanded swipes and overall dismissive tone towards KSU sports (read his latest write up on KSU owning ku in baseball that reads like an article LJW here: http://www.kansascity.com/2010/05/16/1950196/k-state-rallies-against-ku-and.html) KSU has left ku in the dust athletically.

In head to head competition, ku has only beaten KSU in 1/2 of a sport.  And ultimately, in that sport KSU had a more successful season.

Football:  As ku's football team was brawling on campus while confessing to assault online,  KSU was playing for the Div title up to the last week.  ku's best team ever collapsed in embarassing fashion as the fans turned on the best QB to ever play there and ultimately the admin ousted the 2008 Coach of the Year following a massive payout to keep his silence.  The offseason brought multiple criminal incidents and the hiring of a .500 MAC coach who quickly banned swearing and instituted strict acronym compliance.

Basketball:  KSU to the Elite 8.  Enough has been written about the off court incidents of ku and their predictable choke job in the tournament.

women's basketball/track/some other stuff like golf probably:  KSU totally owns ku

Baseball:  KSU wins the series with ku for the 4th time in 5 years.  Sits in second and remains nationally ranked.  ku's coach reduced to begging for a NCAA berth in local media.

So, in short, thanks Kellis.

It'll be great when just like last year, Kellis will think he's weathered the storm and maybe even in the same game as Fitz/creep heckling is going on relentlessly, Kellis gets blasted back to reality.

I think that Kellis will be gone somewhat soon.  A guy like that takes a job like ours to get a paycheck while there is no other paycheck out there.  Bet his resume has been out since last BB season.

His resume's been out a lot longer than that.  For the KSU job, it was pulled out of a year-old file of discarded resumes for a high school beat job.

Yeah, Kellis has no other options.  That said, hopefully they fire him soon and hire Cassidy.

i'm convinced that the kellis wife family maybe knew people in charge of hiring or kellis knew people in charge of hiring that somehow changed and maybe weren't in place during the time that he was deemed "not qualified" for the highschool beat but then a year later was deemed "the man" for the kstate beat. something changed over that period of time. what exactly? we may never know.

A LJW article would not have a paragraph like this (referring to KSU) in it...

Quote
KU coach Ritch Price complimented him as well, but said the Jayhawks should have taken a larger lead early on, when they cranked out seven hits in three innings. Up next is a trip to Arkansas-Little Rock on Tuesday, followed by an important three-game series against Oklahoma starting Friday in Lawrence.

“We win this series next week at home we’ll be (.500 in Big 12 play),” Price said. “That should get us in the NCAA Tournament.”

Disagree.  That paragraph more or less implies ku won but just didn't score as many runs.  Kind of a Ben logic.  Tons of runners on just one hit away from blowing it open.

The entire articly fails to mention that KSU stranded runners at second and third with 1 out on more than one occasion.

i like the part of the story where the kufan/kstate beat writer stops writing about kstate and just focuses on ku and their chances for the tourney, etc. good solid ksu beat writing.

He can't help himself.  You can tell he's the kind of guy that will go to get a single cookie and then just lose it and eat the entire package of fudge stripes.

The LJW article on the same game does not mention KSU's record or chances at the tourny.  They included ZERO quotes from Hill...www2.ljworld.com/news/2010/may/17/not-so-fast-ku-gets-quick-start-fizzles/?sports

edit -- the last info listed was KSU's record.

My point is he is obviously good luck.  While the rest of you Section 17'ers can heckle Kellis.  I have decided I will give him a nice Bobby Knight chant.

"thank you, thank you"

Hey, K-State, only 30 or so more wins in a row in football and you guys might be able to even the all-time series.

So Ben, do you go back in time to sit next to your grandparent's family radio so that you can enjoy these ku footall victories?
