Besides looking a bit like a bald leprechaun, has Kellis been good luck for KSU?
I submit:
Since Kellis was hired in late summer of 2009, and begun his own brand of lazy, horrid writing with backhanded swipes and overall dismissive tone towards KSU sports (read his latest write up on KSU owning ku in baseball that reads like an article LJW here:
http://www.kansascity.com/2010/05/16/1950196/k-state-rallies-against-ku-and.html) KSU has left ku in the dust athletically.
In head to head competition, ku has only beaten KSU in 1/2 of a sport. And ultimately, in that sport KSU had a more successful season.
Football: As ku's football team was brawling on campus while confessing to assault online, KSU was playing for the Div title up to the last week. ku's best team ever collapsed in embarassing fashion as the fans turned on the best QB to ever play there and ultimately the admin ousted the 2008 Coach of the Year following a massive payout to keep his silence. The offseason brought multiple criminal incidents and the hiring of a .500 MAC coach who quickly banned swearing and instituted strict acronym compliance.
Basketball: KSU to the Elite 8. Enough has been written about the off court incidents of ku and their predictable choke job in the tournament.
women's basketball/track/some other stuff like golf probably: KSU totally owns ku
Baseball: KSU wins the series with ku for the 4th time in 5 years. Sits in second and remains nationally ranked. ku's coach reduced to begging for a NCAA berth in local media.
So, in short, thanks Kellis.
