I love Nye but I couldn't get past the first 5 minutes of his show. It just was too much for me. I don't need to be convinced of like most the things he talks about, and the way he/the show presents it was just cringe worthy.

The reboot of Cosmos by the guy in my sig, and the reason I have it, was really well done, little low hanging, but that's what you got to do to get people interested in science. The Saves the World show is too gimmicky.

I've seen that floating around.  I mainly think it's funny to criticize a conservative celebrity for being well educated, but the two are not the same at all.  Nye is not advocating for people, he is holding himself out as an authority.
