not sure about happy. that's not really me. i'm very content though. idk. stress for me was not knowing if we could have kids and then nine months of not knowing whether things would work out and they'd come out ok. we had some scares. the day they were born and everything was normal was the crest of the hill and the rest is just the downward slope for me. dunno. subject to change i suppose.

I went from "let's get the first one out of diapers" to "let's get the first one out of daycare" to "let's get the first one out of college" to "WE'RE rough ridin' PREGNANT?!!?!"

I'm planning a kid around a trip to Egypt. It's tricky, b/c (predictably) my wife is devoting all her energy to worrying about not being close to family or using US/Western hospitals and doctors (we're actually planning to use our new cc points to fly her current OBGYN to Sharm al Sheikh for the delivery). In the meantime, I'm the only one researching probable birth dates, start times at good local schools, and average birth sizes of newly minted expat parents to statistically determine the best "outlier" time to crank one out over there. It's a delicate process, and there is a probably not a time during which women are more close-minded to just run-of-the-mill optimal procreation logistics. I mean, just try and bring it up. There's not an emoticon here for her or me, but she would be some of  and    and  and I'm more  then  then  then

I was married for seven years before we decided to have a kid.  We had a house and good jobs so we were like lets do it.  Man it was nerve racking.  Trying to have a kid is kinda stressfull.  When it doesn't happen right away you're like wtf.  Then after you do seal the deal you're like  .  After that the little guy doesn't keep and you're so  .  You start wondering" is this even worth the trouble."  But then the next time everything goes according to plan and you're like ok this is good.  When my son was born I remember not ever feeling an emotion like this.  My heart about burst out of my chest.  Yah there's bad days and good days but that's life.  Parents just have other things to worry about on a daily basis than Single/childless couples.

planned.  I held out for about 2 years had to quit smoking, get some career stuff in order etc.  Tried for about 6 months.  agree on the wtf when it doesn't happen right away.

it made me swear off booze until I went to Vegas in march.  i broke that commitment today but made it a full 6 days.  i think of it as a test which i basically passed mostly.
