Yeah, I was about to bust it with a shovel before I saw my neighbor to borrow his phone.  I didn't feel panicked but I didn't even look at the passenger door or try it until like 15 minutes after.

She was strapped in.

When lil CF3 was maybe 2 and a half and his sister was like 1, I locked both of them in at the zoo parking lot. And my phone was in there with them. I managed to coax the bigger of the lil CF3s into squirming out of his carseat and unlocking the door. I told him he was a hero just like spiderman.

I feel like a 2 year old should be able to hang out in a car for 45 minutes until a locksmith arrives. is that assumption not correct?

It depends on how the parent handles themselves too.  Yes they're going to be freaking out slightly but if they outwardly play it off like it's NBD then the kid will probably be fine too and kick back in his own little car kingdom for a while.  If a kid sees their parent losing their crap on the other side of the window they're probably going to lose their crap too.

Yea it probably is harder than you think to do it with what you would probably have in that situation.  At least without cutting yourself up pretty good.

Why would you need to break a window if you have your keys? Someone else window?

Would be a fascinating (and pretty sadistic) test to see how long a parent could prevent and/or stand their toddler freaking out while trying to save the cost of the window.  Ideal weather conditions obviously for the test.

Seems like you would waste more than 45 minutes dealing with replacing the window + window cost

Yeah, more for the water scenario or helping others in distress.

Key to car window breaking is to use something small and pointy to concentrate the force.

My sister had to have the FD break her window.  Friggin idiots, but they broke the one right next to the kid.  Why wouldn't they go to other side of car?  Idiots.
