At dinner tonight the kindergarten girl said to the 3rd grade girl “tell mom & dad what was drawn on the bathroom wall.” The 3rd grade girl excitedly said “a penis!” and the girls started giggling. I was not expecting it at all. I was laughing so hard I had to get up & lean on the counter.

Also once a month they’ll get some Sunkist or Crush, but that’s caffeine free.

Why?
Because pediatricians say it’s bad for kids development. I’m no doctor so I just take them at their word.

Damn, are you going to try to keep that rolling much past age 12?  Seems basically impossible once they go to middle school.

Ours are 12 and 14 and we just let them start having it but we don't buy it for them. I'm sure they get it when they stay at their roguish ass friends houses and they can buy it themselves if they want to.

Our thing is we aren't intense about it if they are with friends or at a birthday or whatever.

"Oh I was over at so and so's and his Dad gave us a Dr. Pepper."
"Cool. I bet that was a treat."

We just don't keep around the house. Def don't buy Monsters or Bangs or whatev
This is basically my plan

With the little ones we have a no-caffeine on weekdays policy, weekends are whatever.  The teenager is on her own but she mostly drinks those flavored waters from Walmart.  The only drinks we keep at home are sugar free stuff, so I feel better knowing that I'm slowly killing them with different chemicals and not just sugar.  :dunno:

Very. Coffee and e drinks. Occasional soda is normal and not weird at all
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I don't know how old any of you are but based on the Pet Peeves and Getting Old threads I would say most of us are around the same age. Any of you old fuckers having kids right now are rough ridin' insane.

Congrats though

I'm 48 and our youngest is going to graduate high school next year.  My aunt and uncle had their last kid when he was 55.  I couldn't imagine a new baby at my age and 55 would be insane.

My FIL has a fried that did the same thing. Had a couple kids, then something happened & the doctor said “you’re sterile, don’t waste your time on a vasectomy.” He didn’t think about it again for 18 years. As the youngest was going to college his body fixed itself & they got another at 55.

I told my doc to "double knot" it when I got cut.

The thing that scares me is I met a fertility doc a long time ago at a bar in San Diego.  We were bullshitting and he told me a story about how they needed a "sample" to test out some new equipment at his office.  He provided the sample and there were swimmers after being cut for quite a while.  Evidently there are rare cases where nature finds a way and that crap grows back together. :ohno:

I'm 48 and have been an empty nester for several years now.  It's pretty great most of the time   but can get kinda quiet and lonely sometimes  :frown:

I'm absolutely dreading it (and looking forward to it). Like right now is so busy and stressful but I know it'll be 100% the best time of my life and knowing that makes me appreciate it now more for sure. I keep thinking I'll coach baseball after my kid doesn't play because I love it so much but also I know that's not true and it's the time with my kid.

I'm 43 and have 8 more years of this. I'm going to do everything I can to live them (not just not die which is also important to my plan being a success but also not getting too worried about work and crap).
