Speaking of California, I noticed the other day that between normal government debt and unfunded mandates, they're $450 billion in the hole.

I also saw that their rail project (BTW, I'm a fan of infrastructure projects) is already headed to being billions over budget just for the first part of the route.

When I read the basis for the ban it was a truly

moment. I used to think this sort of lunacy was mainstream, which was depressing. Now that I'm realizing how fringe it really is, I find it pretty hilarious.

I suppose we ought to ban state funded travel to California in retaliation. Start a travel war.

This is not a free market thing, though. The state of California is prohibiting the institutions it funds from travelling to KS.

I don't hate the legislation, although I generally prefer that individuals make their own decisions about stuff like this instead of being compelled by law one way or the other.
