josh has two lawyers, the lawrence attorney, chahine and his counsel out of denver, scott boatman.  pretty normal for a college kid, i'd assume.  now please can we put this issue to rest so he can focus on school?

“Josh has already made a statement regarding this incident, which occurred almost three months ago in December,” said Boatman, a Denver attorney who has represented professional athletes.

leave the kid alone

So he has a lawyer who sells islands on the side. BFD.

They are destroying this girl

Well she did throw a drink on someone who had previously punched her and kicked her in the face.  If that's not deserving of having your life destroyed I don't know what is.

Yea, I'm not clear on whether the police are saying that it's possible the car was already damaged before they started going ape-crap on it, or whether they just don't know how much damage is attributable to each person.  If it's the second, then it seems like you would just call it aiding and abetting a felony for each person involved and they would be charged the same.  At either rate, I feel better knowing the victim specifically asked that it not be charged as a felony. I HOPE that was a major factor in the DA's decision (much more so than the lame excuse they gave to the public).

The severity of the charge is a discretion of the prosecuting attorney.  When Bragg got instant diversion for his paraphanalia charge, like within a couple of day, that should tell you all you need to know how aggressively the Douglas Co DA will prosecute Jackson.

Seems reasonable. Most settlement offer usually do go like "How much to make this go away?"

Seems like it might be sort of rare to allow settlement offers in criminal cases.

Yes, that's the rub. In civil cases it's a settlement. In criminal cases it's a bribe.

The lawyer chose his words carefully so that it sounded like an offer of restitution. "Oh, sorry for the damage to your car, let's not go through the hassle of fixing it and just replace it with this Corvette. It's the least we can do...as long as you swear under oath Jackson did nothing wrong."

BITB emphasized last night when the new article came out that there is still an ongoing rape investigation with 5 KU players named as witnesses.  He also emphasized that a witness could also be a suspect but has not been named yet due to the ongoing investigation.  BITB loves to fish.

I liked the reason he gave for her throwing a drink on him: "because, I don't know, he wouldn't date her anymore."

This is the exact question that came to mind.  Are these lawyers offering up their cash based on Jackson's future earning potential?

Also, what is their affiliation with KU?   Is this an improper benefit if they're doing pro-bono work and also falling under the purvue of NCAA booster rules?   If so, looks like they're going to be doing a lot of pro-bono work for a lot of KU students (like any student who asks), otherwise, it's an improper benefit.
