I'm talking about Turkey that has been in the fridge a week, not 5 months. 5 month turkey gives me heart palpitations. I would probably burn the fridge

In my mind food is expired long before that death date they print on the package. Frozen pizza sits in the freezer for two weeks? Trash that rough rider and get a new one.

If food doesn't smell really funky, it won't harm you.

I have anxiety about not having enough money. And I spend a lot of worry about the well-being of people I care about.

Calling somebody I've never talked to to ask for money or permission to do something. I absolutely hated the 1 time I got roped into telefund and I would make a terrible salesman.

1000X this. I hate calling people I don't know, and I hate asking people for money. Doing the telefund was pretty much the most nerve racking thing since it's both of those.

On the flip side, when I do receive the telefund call, I try to be as :D as possible to them, knowing how :runaway: is was for me on the other end.

I'd rather ask for a donation than be asked for one. 532 number calling? Kid at front door with sign up sheet and/or box of something? Not answering!

My wife absolutely hates that I keep food beyond the date.  Especially milk.  The truth is, unless it says expiration date or something denoting it should not be used after a certain date, the date on it is more likely talking about this is the date we've determined this will taste the best or the date it has to be sold.  But it is still usable afterwards in most cases.  And they are largely not regulated, so a company determines their own dates.  I get the turkey after a week thing though.  And frozen stuffs.  pretty much good forever, or until the freezer burn sets in.

Even the dates on dairy and meat aren't very reliable at all. The smell test is infallible.

some of you are confusing anxiety and fear

don't ask me to define either, but im sure some of you are confusing them

Right, but the framing of this conversation leads people to talk about their greatest sources of anxiety which become fears. This would be a pretty dull conversation about the small things that we all have anxiety about. Lib's expired food anxiety is a perfect example of this. I'm guessing most people wouldn't scarf down turkey from the fridge that has been in there for five months without a wayward thought. Crossing the street is something we all do but I'm sure most have some level of anxiety about it, same thing with driving a car, getting a haircut, staying in a high rise hotel, eating out, getting married, hiring a babysitter, etc etc etc.

In the most basic definition, fear is directly attributable to something that is happening whereas anxiety is what your mind is doing to you thinking about what could happen, be happening, etc...

It's like fear is your emotional and physical reactions when a spider is crawling on you.  Anxiety is your emotional and physical reactions when thinking about spiders crawling on you.

My wife's family all have really debilitating anxiety.  She takes medication to reduce hers, but I have had to learn the triggers of hers.  Some days it is like a tightrope which is why I commented that people with anxiety give me anxiety.  Constantly getting turned over wondering if what I'm doing is triggering her.  The medication makes it much easier.  I still rarely drive the vehicle if we are both in it though.  It's just not worth it because she is white knuckle the entire time constantly trying to figure out ways that we will crash.  Her father won't even ride in a vehicle if he isn't driving.

Why does the air at the top of good milk smell spoiled?  Like if you pour a glass and smell its fine tho.

Things I can't control
This. Always this. I don't say the serenity prayer enough.

Things I can't control give me total peace and relaxation. What can be better for your anxiety than knowing it's not your fault?
As a narcissist, it's always my fault. Or so I always think.

Lib those 'use by' and expired dates don't mean anything. They don't regulate it at all, you could put anything on there. There was some study that came out in the past year about it and most food lasts for days/weeks longer than those dates
