They got nothing out of the Russian COLUSION component, besides some things about being interested in what a foreign power was doing to try and influence the election (while the other side was directly engaged with other foreign powers and foreign agents trying to influence the election) so now they're trying to make mountains out of the moleholes of the head of the executive branch doing head of the executive branch stuff.

Why is that a wow? Why is a foreign power making overtures of this kind even news? Countries do this kind of stuff all the time.

What you're not asking is why this happened. Russia was emboldened because they lived in the midst of the Post 2012 Election Era of Flexibility aka The Great Bendover . Putin knew full well he could move on Crimea and Obama would do nothing. Putin knew full well he could move to directly intervene to back the Assad regime and Obama would do nothing etc. etc. etc. etc.
