Do they have cavalry to ride around holding one of their swords above their head? Like they are supposed to be a WW1-era army, right?

They probably say "Nerf" on the inside of the handle.

There is just so much crazy stuff going on at this school that it is hard to keep it all straight. You mean they have dead dogs buried in their end zone?

Surprisingly they had the restraint not to bury them in the end zone but in the place where they are buried they installed a mini scoreboard so all the dead Lassie dogs can see the score of the game.

Yeah, the dogs have a few feet of dirt over them. How could they possibly see the score?

and they are dead.  Can't see scores.  and dogs cannot read, no matter how well trained

I know, it sounds totally made up.  To me it makes way more sense to wire a mini scoreboard inside the mascot coffin.  But it's real.

An army of 2000 to protect 1 dog seems like overkill to me, but I guess that means it will never get stolen. Do they really not do anything else other than play dress-up and follow a dog around? This is an actual accredited university we are talking about, right?

Was the army responsible for building that bonfire that killed people?

Also, in alternate reality land, Gen. George Patton may have said that he could have whipped all sorts of ass with just a handful of Fightin Texas Ag Corpsman, and no tanks, nary a one.   Just a handful of those Fightin Ags.

So I looked it up, and I guess their dog did get stolen back in the 90s. How the heck does a whole army with the one job of not losing a damn dog fail at that task?

I got an email that someone sent out a Randolph Duke beacon.

Pretty much anything you want to know about aggy is contained on this site:

Yes, the info is true. Most of it is offered with citations and references.

The number of things you could say "I know, it totally sounds made up" about aTm and their traditions is pretty amazing.

The linked is a show about the bonfire tragedy, it is actually very good but there's a lot of W.T.F. in there that I didn't realize about the bonfire at the time. One of the more trivial wtf moments but one that is quintessentially aggy is when they discuss how they have to drink water out of sweaty hard hats that they are wearing. It was a tradition, or maybe it still is since they still do a bonfire. So gross, so aggy.

This is what happens when you focus all the kids that can't get into 4 or 5 other local universities to one remote located university and leave them relatively unchecked.  It's basically the first BioDome experiment but instead of genius astronauts they used a bunch of bubbas.

Aggie wishes they didn't try to high brow it up so much, though.  Not realistic enough.
