Omaha >>>> Wichita > Des Moines

If you've spent more than 15 minutes in either place you'd know how comically off this is. I am a proud Kansan, much prouder than most, but there are two metrics in which Wichita has any advantage at all and that's diversity and barbecue joints. If you care about sports, culture, liveability, growth, business development, cleanliness, crime, civic pride, etc. you'd be better off comparing Pratt to Des Moines than Wichita. It's actually embarrassing how far behind Des Moines Wichita is.

Oh Wichita has better winter weather and better golf courses but Des Moines has managed to get a champions tour stop and Wichita can't even manage that.

I'm making this post from a hotel at the intersection of Kellogg and Webb Road right now. When i had to drive a mile out of the way  do a U turn on Kellogg just to get onto webb off of the turnpike it's a real appreciation for how shitty Kellogg is. I graduated from high school almost 25 years ago, Kellogg has been under constant construction since before then. I wish this was hyperbole, unfortunately it isn't.

Gonna be sweet when Kellogg highway connects all the way to K96 tho! 3 more years?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

I get it, showing my younger age, but I remember being a lil guy (4 or 5) them putting in the downtown overpass sections in (they looked kind of like big V's to lil me), and yeah, they just now have gotten roughly Beech. Several miles, tearing down the Church my parents got married in (Magdalen), eminent domaining a friend of family's house in College Hill, and totally agree, 25 years later, they are maybe 3 years from getting to K96.

Having hailed from the great metropolis that is Wichita, I can confirm that FSD has no rough ridin' clue what he talking about. Wichita's peak was in 1945 when it built the planes that dropped the bomb on Japan. It's been a receding blue collar wasteland since the 80s as the aircraft indistry starting to go under. I will admit the last time I was home (go home about 2-3 times a year) there has been a new vibrant, for Wichita, culture starting to take place in many areas, but it's a very dull town that wishes it was Des Moines (state capital) and more omnipresent in it's state (like Omaha) than it really is. Wichita is finally starting to getting around it can't just live off aircraft alone.

I still have that "aw, it's still home" feeling about the ICT, but I cannot tell you if you told me I had to move back there how much a step backwards that would feel. I totally get though why FSD would think Wichita is the tits, it's absolutely filled with FSDs running around bitching incessantly about anything and everything. They are the most sad sack sorry downtrodden wishing they had their voices heard lot of people you'd ever meet. WSU leaving the MVC for the AAC is literally the biggest positive news that town has had since they went to the final four, and trust me, I drove around right after WSU won to make it to the FF and the entire town save one street in Old Town was devoid of anyone looking even remotely happy.

 can we get a body bag over here for FSD?

Well, traffic is kind of bad
They’re widening Easy Street to fit more SUVs
They’re planting baby trees to grow to shady peaks
A little shelter from the sun and the upper tax bracket
Here on the cul-de-sac we are not giving back
Until the community repents
Because we can’t afford to be generous
There are closing costs and a narrow margin
So go earn your degree and we’ll take you out to lunch
You can work for us but you have eat them all up
One more mouthful and we will be happy then

Out West they are moving dirt
To make a greater Omaha
Another franchise sold
So there are even more restaurants per capita
And they all have got a drive-thru
I mean, who’s got time to dine?
Although the floors are clean and the color scheme
It compliments me every time
So no one starves in this cattle town
The semi's pass making squealing sounds
And it's all-u-can-eat and they will never get enough
They’ll be feeding us, they’ll be feeding on us
One more mouthful and they will be happy then

All those golden fields, lovely empty space
They’re building drug stores now until none remains
I have been driving for 100 blocks
Saw 50 Kum and Go’s, 60 parking lots
One more mouthful and I’m sure they will be happy then
Just one more, just one more

Des Moines has that cool walkway thing downtown to help with the cold weather issue.

I've never been to Des Moines but I have to imagine it's nicer than Wichita.  Wichita sucks. I can say that because I was born there.

Wichita is better than Omaha and way better than rough ridin' Des Moines, I've been to all of them and it's not debatable. I'm sorry you idiots had to move to those I-80 roadside motel shitholes.

And obviously Wichita has better golf and food. It also isn't in Iowa, which somehow has worse roads than Missouri, or Nebraska, which is just a shitload of fat white people.

My experience is that the worst thing about Wichita is the wind.
