honestly, that is pretty fair.  If you are a trump lender you should typically know he is a first rate liar and deadbeat so I have zero sympathy for anyone he screwed after 1990 or so.

It's a blistering decision, but you gotta pump the breaks, a bit. This type of order for partial summary judgment is exactly the type of thing that is likely to get stayed pending appeal, because if Trump and co. win on appeal (I don't think they will), irreparable harm would already have been done. This will likely take years to sort out.

One thing is clear from reading the decision: this judge (or justice, in this instance) hates tf out of Trump and his lawyers, based on their behavior in this case.

Did a judge really say that Mar-A-Lago is only worth $18 million dollars?

An entity that the Trump's claim produces over $20 million dollars in revenue a year?  As I've seen some say, it would mean the estate hasn't even kept up with inflation in terms of value.  Let alone considering the surrounding real estate market in that part of the country, the improvements to the property over the years, and the revenue generation component.

FYI, a 2 Acre wooded lot just down the road from Mar-a-Lago is currently listed for $150 million, and Trump's estate is many many times larger than that.  Other smaller inland properties with no ocean access nearby to Trump's estate are currently on the market for $40 million plus.

But this isn't a common law fraud claim. This is a form of statutory fraud based on a specific section of New York's GBL (Gen. Bus. Law). There is no damages element required. Think about it this way: NY has a law that says the act of committing business fraud (in certain situations, such as this) is per se damaging to the interests of the state and its people/businesses. That is why the statute empowers the AG to bring suit. That's also why the monetary remedy will be disgorgement (punishment for ill-gotten gains) rather than restitution.

In any event, this whole thing will be a mess that will take years to sort out.

Even taking all of this at face value, it's pretty easy to make the case that a lot of that income (most? all?) is related to Trump's presence there rather than the property itself. There are plenty of instances of folks paying top dollar for the chance to run into Trump either for political reasons or fandom. Market value would reflect that any purchaser would not be able to squeeze nearly as much money on a regular basis as Trump has.
