1. Why isn't it public who the finalists are and when they are being interviewed? This should absolutely be a public process.

2. If the FHSU President, or any other Kansas Regents President is actual a finalist, I will be extremely disappointed. I understand the state of Kansas isn't the greatest place for academics right now, but damn can we not find people who are 2nd and 3rd in command at other major universities who want to be the gal/guy?

I agree it is bullshit, but academia/admin types have convinced everyone that this needs to be a closed process so that their admin doesn’t get butthurt that they are job hunting/protect egos when they don’t get it. It is terrible but all the parties that are in charge of this (candidates/regents/search committees) have a preference for this because it obviously provides less oversight/second guessing and also this is largely the pool of candidates for other jobs so wouldn’t it be better to have some discretion. Kstate doesn’t get to dictate this but I agree faculty should raise a stink about it and institutions with strong faculty’s that are unionized have some muscle with which to push back, but not here.

Agree whole heartedly. I know Schulz was a mixed bag for people but holy crap we need someone of that caliber/energy with an actual vision.
