Why is Texas bad at stuff. (Also football related.)

They get 4/5 star recruits, can hire top-tier coaches, I don't buy that recruits don't try hard because they already think they are good, let's croudsource this deal.

The school, town, traditions, etc are so great winning is not as important there as is a lot of places.

I agree with all of that, but it doesn't tell me why they are bad.

they are pretty great tho. mack won them a natty, went to a bowl every season but one and won 77% of his games there. barnes won 70% of his games and got them to a final 4 and won the b12 3 times. what more do you want?

Well, they aren't bad but they do have ups & downs most blue bloods that don't accept losing do not have.  Also, by and large they give no shits for basketball.

they've won the B12 4 times in the last 11 years including a NC. They've gone to the NCAA 17 of the last 18 seasons including a final 4 and two other E8s. and they really never even played basketball prior to barnes. name programs that have done more in both of the major sports. pretty long list? there are schools that have accomplished more but not many.

For Texas, finishing below top 3 in the conference is a bad year.  They have more bad years than good years.  Why?  Also, mack and Rick were studs and they should have not let them go.
