So basically the Republicans want to encourage families to have more kids (and penalize them if they don't). Probably a good way to offset all the labor we will be losing due to their immigration policies.

Upper middle class HENRYs with 4 or 5 kids seem to be the real losers here. People with modest incomes and 0-2 kids should save quite a bit.

Increasing the child tax credit is a really good deal for poor people with lots of kids, because they are already not paying taxes anyway. Tacking on $20k to the 35% tax bracket adds $7000 to your bill while the extra $500 per kid only removes $2500.
