1st and 10 at your own half yard line...

Best option in the phone book is to hand off to Charles Jones 5 yards deep... .  Yup.  Emaw

I think he was actually more like 7 yards deep.

It was a strange call. Jones was too deep and too slow attacking the line of scrimmage. Once we saw their alignment, I was surprised we didn't just call a sneak away from the NG to get some space.

Overall I was happy with the offense today though. Scoring on 5 of your first 6 drives (4 TDs) should be enough to put away an opponent, but poor special teams and defense in the 2nd half made this game closer than it every should have been.

I'd be fine if Jones never saw a touch again.

Jones wasn't running very hard/well today. Silmon and Barnes looked much better than him on this day

Not that it changes the point of this thread, but I thought he reached the ball out over the goal line. At least close enough to warrant an official review.
I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

Barnes looked awesome out there. Granted, it was ISU, but none of our other backs looked that good.

Silmon had a solid game too.

Jones was not good.

Yeah, I saw that alignment and there was a big gap between the NG and the E, where the RG was. I was thinking QB sneak because it was a good 2-3 yard breathing room to start off with.

Nope. To Jones.... with no lead blocker.

It was a sad affair of coaching schematics on the 4th quarter alone. Not only that, but they come out throwing it around like they're Mike Leach type. Went 3 and out quickly.

And those passes out to the receivers? It worked in the first quarter. ISU made a nice adjustment. Cats still insist on throwing that crap. Heath is gonna get killed on one of those plays sometime.

I don't have any problems with the now/bubble screens. It puts tons of pressure on the defense and allows a lot of those running lanes inside the tackles and off tackles to open up because it spreads the defense. WRs getting blown up on those is often the fault of the blocking WR making the wrong read and not the play call; the throw is dictated by how many defenders opponents put out there which often you can't see on the screen, so it is often impossible to truly see if they are poor calls. I also have no problem with calling them on back to back plays, especially when the previous one gained 13 yards. I honestly didn't see that series as a major problem, it was a good defensive play by ISU which got our offense off track by putting us in 2nd and long. Also, K-State converted a bunch of 2nd/3rd long situations during the game on pass plays and no one said a word; we all like to jump on when things go bad, but when its clicking fans are quiet. The facts are even with the bad series, the offense was very good today and did not turn the ball over. I had many more issues with poor special teams and defense in the 2nd half than I did on the offense. The offense has steadily progressed, my only real problem today was the run that led to the safety.

Our offense would be much better overall if Ertz could throw deep.

Really happy with Burton's performance today, though.

He's playing great for having a typical Snyder QB shoulder.

I felt like our secondary was off all day, lots of late adjustments, seemed to be confused on alignment.  Wonder if some guys mailed in film study this week

ESPN has him at 372 yards on 72 attempts for an average of 5.2

Yeah, Cole is not correct. 5.2 is still pretty good though.

I don't have a problem with the bubble screens. But when it becomes used extensively, it can get old pretty quick, and someone is gonna get lit up. Just like what happened to Heath today.

Another thing I miss that K-State was good at was running a screen play. Quite to be honest with you, I cannot recall when was the last time they ran a screen play using their RB. Or even utilizing their TE's. So yeah, I'm a little peeved about the play call selections. Heck, ISU just did a screen on us, and it resulted a big play.

I will say this though. I can definitely tell Jesse is getting better on his short to intermediate passing has improved a lot since the beginning of the season. The long pass is still a work in progress, but there were some good ones today, they were either dropped/slightly overthrown or was broken up by the defender.

I like him, don't think he played very well today though. Barnes/Silmon were both better at getting yards after contact and getting vertical quickly today.

just a few things:

the bubble screen is completely pointless if pringle is not out there to block for it. i like it when he is because heath can make people miss in space, zuber and sutton are two small to block that play and it should be put in the back pocket unless byron is out there to block. jesse played very well when the coaches didn't call plays from ncaa 2013. this throw 3 bombs bullshit has got to stop (especially when we have all the momentum)

silmon is a beast hits the hole and is fast, he maybe doesn't have jones top end speed but that isn't saying much..still at a loss why we quit feeding him in the second half. coach said he was dinged up but he was really confused when he was asked where he got hurt so I'm not sure what in the hell is going on there. barnes is good to very good as well, i think we all know why he didn't do anything later in the game

how about #myguy? that was what I've been waiting for going on 3 1/2 years now.

stark rough ridin' sucks, im not sure what is going on with him but he is just getting destroyed the last few weeks. He looks like he doesn't care, the pass that they dropped in the first half that was a sure td he just quit running. our coaches ultimately are reliable once again but we will never know since they can't speak to anyone. on the subject of dbs our corners are good but would it kill them to get up and jam from time to time? if I'm an oc playing us i slant over and over until they stop it.

i think willis is hurt, he was basically a no show which sucks. geary is and will be fun/hilarious to watch. as a whole the line made a few plays late but got zero pressure almost the whole game.

i think we play a 60 minute game against the pokes and win 42-17

The pop pass we ran a bunch last year is a lot like a rb screen.
