I think taking an adult learning class is a good way.  Such as a cooking class or language class.  #lifelonglearner

Where do I find out about these things in my local area

Lib. You are going to have to do some of the research yourself.

TBT, Pete, and KK have had the best advice in this thread.

Do you pick up the pitch when you see one? If not, do it.

I respect that.  I'm sure I did not either.

JCCC, but also in a city like KC or Lawrence a lot of restaurants or stuff will put on things like this.  As a for instance, I just play pick up soccer.  I haven't really developed friends beyond just hanging, but oh well.

You're welcome to come play golf with Canary and I anytime in Topeka. Might even convince us to pay for your round. Then maybe you'll like it enough to join a league in OP?

Change your personality from being a introvert to being a extrovert

Tell me more about this option.
Just totally change who you are. I've always been an extrovert, but in the past couple of years, I've turned into a grumpy old man some, so I went introvert and I hide in my hole on the weekends. Sometimes I have to tell Mrs. Wacky we're not sitting at the bar when we go out to eat, because it means will end up with 12 new friends and stay out till 3 am.

On this same note, I think finding a restaurant that you really enjoy that has a menu you could eat off of most days of the week and becoming a regular is a possibility. I waited tables at LABCO for awhile and there was a real community among the regulars there. Might need to be a local establishment instead of a chain. It's kinda like Cheers in real life.

The reason you're having trouble is that you're getting older. As you age, you get increasingly less tolerant of other people's bullshit. Human nature.

So, just be patient. Give it some time and you'll start to realize that not having friends is a good thing because it means less bullshit in your life.
