Is “Gypsy” a slur?

On its own, no. Gypsies are an ethnic group, unfortunately their name is frequently slurred though, most often in mocat's example. Gypsies in Europe are treated extremely poorly.

They know that the term "Gypsy" has come to have a negative connotation. They refer to themselves as Romani.

You're not supposed to say you got "gypped" if like chipotle doesn't give you enough meat in your burrito, for example
Yeah I learned that on this very blog a few years ago. I had no idea it was a reference to gypsies until then

Less than 15% of Germany’s attack and transport helicopters are air worthy.

I suppose it’s good that our “ally” Germany is buying off Putin with petroEuro’s while living under the warm comfy protective blanket of $733 billion dollars of US taxpayer paid protection.

In other news, Germany is conducting nation wide terror raids.

That’s not the top of first world problems (and in the year of our FSM 2020, the list of first world problems is glorious in length and depth), but it’s damn close.

EU:  No border checks or closings due to the flu (just the flu), common cold or the thing that RUIN/UIN is completely melting down about because some people on Twitter say some things.

Apparently border closings will send the "wrong message".

Angie Merkel, the German (and defacto EU leader) leader, who over see's her country pumping billions of dollars into Vlad Putin's pockets (but not a Russian puppet, tho) continues to tell Syrian Refugee's to go eff themselves (she's still beloved by UIN's far and wide, tho):

Turkey sending troops to prevent refugees from returning to Turkey.  Refugees that LibDork Nations beloved EU won’t allow in.

EU (LibDork Nation's Favorite) is now sending nearly $1 Billion to Greece to put up a human wall against Syrian Refugees.

Such humanitarians.

Military and Police.   Meanwhile Erdo sent in the Turkish special forces 1000 strong to make sure they don't head back into Turkey.

Congrats again Barry, Leon and Hillary.   A little late, but the endgame is being realized.  Congrats.

What was the end game again?

Destabilize Syria and force a mass migration.

Yes, but what's the end game?  Destroying Western culture?

I don't know about that, but 4 million refugees is a substantial destabilizing factor.   It's caused a great burden on Turkey, which in turn has driven Turkish militarism, which in turn impacts the NATO alliance.    It's now pushing those millions into Europe or at least trying to push them into Europe.

When you put it up against the test of why was the United States via proxy doing what they were doing in Syria these kinds of things have to be considered.   Because there's no reasonable explanation and the administration neither offered an explanation nor was ever truly asked by anyone of substance to provide an explanation.    The Obama administrations weird direct/proxy war on secular leaning regimes in the Middle East is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen from a foreign policy perspective.    Particularly knowing they had no real intent of being heavily engaged in the rebuilding.  Had Assad been overthrown the blood bath would have been many fold what it is and was.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2020/03/27/eu_tempers_fray_as_coronavirus_hits_lives_livelihoods_economies_142797.html

Quote
But the nine rapid-economic action countries want the immediate rollout of “coronabonds,” shared debt backed by all. This would let even those hardest-hit nations borrow at sustainably low interest rates as their spending balloons on hospitals, measures to pay wages and to stop bankruptcies. Germany and the Netherlands do not agree.

Many early responses to the virus at the national level - uncoordinated actions like the partial closure of borders, some of which have disrupted European medical and food supply chains, or the failure of nervous governments to share masks with countries in need - also seem to have undermined mutual trust.

It’s a commodity that once lost could prove very hard to restore, particularly among expectant citizens.

“When Europe really needed to be there for each other, too many initially looked out for themselves. When Europe really needed an ‘all for one’ spirit, too many initially gave an ‘only for me’ response,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Thursday.
