It was a Varney's bookstore in the KSU owned Union.  KSU did not renew their lease.

This happened awhile ago while I was still in school. The story I heard was that a corporate book store chain came in with an offer to the union that meant they probably wouldn't initially make a profit, and Varney's couldn't come close to competing with.

Correct, it has been operated by a national bookstore chain for the past 3 years.
