Looks like good positioning. It's cover 0. He lines up inside the receiver like he's supposed to. The coverage is designed to force short passes - would be dumb to press there.

Based on what Newlan does at the snap, its actually cover 1... and, yes the defensive alignment is sound.

Another thing of note.  Silmon was the back on both plays you could see the backfield on.  He picked up a blitz on both plays.  Good to see he may have learned to block in the offseason.

With the double A gap blitz I doubt the coverage has 4 man defenders and 1 zone defender. He probably is just reading the back staying in to block and then helping on other routes. Lined up too close to LOS to be in cover 1 positioning too.

pretty logical predictions by Ubbs but I think the cats split the WVU & BU roadies at best and drop one of the UT/TT/OSU home games for a 7-5 (5-4) 4th to 6th place finish in the league. 

imo OU & TCU appear have a clear talent and experience advantage over the 2nd tier of OSU, KSU, UT, TT and WVU and BU is definitely the wildcard
